It’s Spring here in North Texas, which means we’re already seeing temperatures as high as 85 degrees. We’re breaking out the shorts and sunglasses. My wife informed me that cargo shorts are no longer cool (??). So, combined with this warmer weather and no cargo shorts, pocket space is limited. It makes an Intentional EDC even more important.

This week we wanted to look at an incredibly tough pen that just happens to be made by one of our favorite EDC pen companies,  Fisher Space Pen. Combined with one of our favorite neck knives, the Hinderer Knives Flashpoint, and a waterproof pad of paper, you can be prepared and ready for whatever comes your way, even on the warmest days.

Let’s take a look.

Fisher Space Pen Clutch Pen

When we think of a tough job, a roughneck working the oil fields in West Texas comes to mind. Fisher Space Pen wanted to design a pen for a tough job like the oil industry, one that could stand up to wind, rain, grime, dirt, and water. As a result, the Clutch is the toughest Fisher Space Pen yet. It takes the durability of their refill and combines it with an anodized aluminum body that is built for hard work.

The Clutch is a tough pen made for tough jobs. From freezing cold to scorching heat, the Clutch uses the much-loved Fisher Space Pen Refill, which can write at any angle including upside down, through grease, underwater, and lasts three times longer than an average ballpoint pen.

The body of the pen has a hefty hexagonal finger grip design that ensures that you will maintain a solid grasp on the pen even when wearing thick gloves, and its composition of black anodized aluminum provides both a sturdy and light-weight feel in hand. With its strong pocket clip, you can rest assured that the Clutch will always be there when you need it.

With a 3.0″ blade and an overall length of 6.25″, the Flashpoint is a great choice for warmer weather as it comes with a slim Kydex sheath. Wear it under a lightweight t-shirt as a neck knife and you’ve got a solid choice for a defensive blade and peace of mind.

The CNC ground spearpoint blade is equally handy at slicing or piercing when the need arises. The Flashpoint blends functionality with concealability when combined with its slim Kydex sheath. If you don’t want to carry it on your neck, the sheath can also be configured to accept a small Tek-Lok for belt carry. The Hinderer Flashpoint is a serious contender for a place in your Primary EDC.
